Barbacoa Joe

  • 1 14oz Pkg Raise American Barbacoa
  • 1 16oz Jar Favorite Picante Sauce (Mild, Medium Or Hot)
  • 6 Oz Tomato Paste
  • ¼ C Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. Agave Syrup
  • 6 Buns Brioche, Sourdough, Hawaiian, Pretzel your choice.
  • Room Temperature Butter


  • Shredded Cheese
  • Fresh Chopped Cilantro
  • Diced Onion or Green Onion
  • Plantain Chips
  • Sliced Jalapeno Peppers
  • Sliced Tomatoes
  • Bread & Butter Pickles

In a large sauce, pan place one package of Raise American Barbacoa, jar of salsa of choice, tomato paste, cider vinegar, and agave syrup. Bring to a low simmer and use two forks to shred chunks of Barbacoa to small pieces. Do not over shred, simmer to reduce and thicken about 20 minutes.

Spilt buns and spread butter on open faces, on a non-stick fry pan over medium heat toast buns until golden brown and crispy. Place grilled bun bottoms on service plate and evenly divide simmered Barbacoa Joe on buns top and serve with toppings of choice and a pile of napkins, NO FORKS NEEDED!
